St. Louis 8/13/99
So, St. Louis kind of sucked. As a result of it sucking we only really took pictures of the big arch (the gateway to the west) which was cool. We asked that lady who took our tickets at the bottom of the arch if it was worth the $6 that we paid to go to the top. She said "no". Oh well...It actually turned out to be good. Because our tickets were to good up the south leg of the arch we had to watch the most boring video presentation ever (see picture below) about the history. Kathy wanted to go up the north side. She was right because we found out later that the video was about the future and was much cooler. Anyway, we had to ride to the top of the arch in what was described as device that was, "part elevator, part trolley car, and part amusement park ride". In actually it was a little awful hot room painted blue, with five 5 seats and a little door. It was more like a solitary confinement chamber, or something you might see on old space movie (see picture). Anyway after we exited our little hot chamber the top of the arch was pretty cool. We took a lot of pictures. Kathy realized that she only brought black and white film. Rick pushed some little kids away from the viewing windows to get a better view. Then we left. We sat directly under the middle of the arch for 45 minutes and took some pictures and whatever. Then we went up on the roof of the Adams Mark and wished that we were staying there. And this one time in band camp...

This is the worst place ever. Don't ever eat here. There was nothing good about this place. |

The awful video that they made us was watch before we got in our little hot room |

Us in the little hot room. We aren't all close together because of the picture...it's because the room was this small. |

When you look straight down form the arch, it looks like the legs of the arch are your legs and that you could cross the Mississippi with one giant step |
